Times Square Billboard

Designing a Billboard for Times Square

The billboard, located at the Marriott Marquis at 1535 Broadway, was designed to disguise the construction of what is now the world’s largest and most technologically advanced digital LED screen . The billboard, which is 120’ by 20’ tall on Broadway and wrapping the sides of both 44th and 45th streets, was designed to the theme of the urban jungle. Standing out in Times Square isn’t easy. The tourist-heavy location is full of bright lights and screens that intend to grab the visitor's attention, however, what is lacking in this space is a place for solitude and calm. Interestingly, green is the only color that we couldn’t find in this urban landscape. We designed a massive billboard print, almost completely green in color, that graphically intertwines both city and jungle. We laminated small reflective materials on the windows of the buildings that would reflect the large amount of lights flashing in times square.
